Scott Booth was delighted with his Aberdeen Women sides bouncebackability on Sunday afternoon that saw them defeat Queen’s Park 5-2 at the Balmoral Stadium, after what had been a long and difficult seven days.

I think both games last Sunday and Wednesday, clearly for me had reasons why we lost the games. A game against Montrose is always going to be on a knife edge between us because it’s just that rivalry and the way that they play. I think we were a little bit unlucky to not come away with something from that game, if I’m being totally honest. Especially when you lose a goal in eighty-eight minutes, it doesn’t give you the time to come back into it.

“For Eva to make that mistake in the game is unlike her because she’s been great since I’ve come in. She’s been pretty much constantly in the team. She’s now adding that real threat to her game from the edge of the box. She can really hit it when she is on it.

“The rest of her game as well has improved up a hell of a lot. I feel like those two games, there were reasons for them. Today, I felt we were more like ourselves again. I felt that we controlled the game. However, there are spells in it, that we still need to get better at. That’s where Queen’s Park manage to score against us. I feel like really we were quite comfortable for the whole game apart from that.

“It’s just like sloppy stuff sometimes. It’s quite obvious because when we’re on it, you can see how good we can be. But then when we’re off it and sloppy, it looks really, really bad. We just need to get that part of our game  sorted. You’re never going to completely control a game and have perfection and just be constantly seeing good things. There’s another team out there as well. We just need to try and make sure that when we have those moments or those passages of play that we’re not quite on it, that we’re not dipping our standards too low. Otherwise, it can end up in an opposition goal.

“Eva has been really good and very consistent. She’s been on the end of goals which have won us games, and the importance of the goals that she has scored so far this season have been brilliant. She had another really good game today.

“It was good to get some subs on. It’s so frustrating that we have cup tied players for Sunday, and they are players that have been regularly starting players. That’s not ideal. We know that. It is a bit frustrating, but that’s why we have a squad. We have to utilise a squad. There’ll be players that will be called on to come in and play. It’s a great occasion for them to come in and do that at Hampden.

“We’ll probably not do too much on this game. In terms of analysis, we’ll do a little bit, but the main focus will be on Rangers now. We need to get as much information into the group as early as we can and plan for the game and see if we can come up with a way of getting through.”
