Scott Booth Hamilton Reaction

Scott Booth was pleased to see his Aberdeen Women side come through a tense encounter to defeat Hamilton Academical 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at New Douglas Park.

“It would have been nice to finish a game feeling comfortable, and really enjoy the three points and the win. But we were biting our nails at the end again.

“I felt that for the majority of the game, we controlled it and had most of the possession. We could have moved the ball quicker at times and maybe been a bit more aggressive in our play. That said, we scored three goals again this week, and instead of it ending 4–3, we managed to get the three points, which was important.

“The players that came in did really well, especially Mia and Erin It wasn’t an easy game to come into, but I knew they could offer us something different. They’ve trained with us for a number of weeks and months on and off, and they deserved their start. I don’t think anyone in the squad would have disagreed with those selections.

“There were still moments where we could have been more aggressive out of possession, putting our head on the ball and clearing it. Their second goal is an example of that; we needed to attack the ball better. If you don’t, you’ll come under pressure. But overall, I felt we were in control of the game, and I’m happy for the players to get the three points. It is a chance to go into the next few games feeling positive.

“It sets up our trip to Montrose well. We know how they play, we’ve faced them a number of times, so we understand what to expect. It’s about making sure we’re ready for that and that we bring the quality needed to win. These are important games, and we need to take three points.”
