The Club can confirm that Sunday's ScottishPower Women’s Premier League fixture against Spartans has been moved to Balmoral Stadium following approval from the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL).
The decision has been taken in anticipation of a period of severe weather across Aberdeen and the North-east, with yellow weather warnings currently in place for both wind and rain. Pittodrie has also experienced significant rainfall in recent days, with approximately 30mm recorded, while a SEPA flood warning remains active.
To give the fixture the best possible opportunity to proceed as scheduled, the Club sought approval to relocate the match to Balmoral Stadium, where the 3G playing surface provides a more resilient option under the current conditions.
We hope that by making this decision well in advance of Sunday it will provide clarity for supporters, players and stakeholders, helping to minimise disruption and significantly reducing the risk of a late postponement.
While we recognise this may be disappointing for some supporters, extensive discussions took place across the Club and there was unanimous agreement that, given the circumstances, this represented the most sensible and responsible course of action to maximise the likelihood of the match being played.
All tickets issued for Pittodrie will remain active and valid and can be scanned at Balmoral Stadium. Please note, seating at Balmoral Stadium will be unallocated, and limited in availability, and as such no seat reservations will be carried across for this fixture.
The Club will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide any further updates as necessary.
We thank supporters for their understanding and continued backing of Aberdeen FC Women and look forward to seeing the Red Army get behind the team at Balmoral Stadium on Sunday.
