“I do like it up here!
“I don’t know why I keep scoring against them. It must just be my team. There is no reason for it.
“Today it was well needed after the start I made.
“I gave away the free kick away. I stuck my foot out. And then I lost my marker for the goal. I let him get the wrong side of me. So not a good start.
“So to score the winner felt a bit sweeter after giving away the first goal.
“I don’t know how Mark has done it! He has never hit a ball like that in his life! It was a great volley. A rocket into the back of the net. At 1-1 it then set us up nicely for the second half.
“I just said to myself I will get a chance to score here. I had a chance a little bit before that when Shinnie put over a ball. I felt that I was pulled back. The referee did not see anything wrong. But I thought the next one, there will be no holding me back. I will make sure I get a free run so I could get on it and I did. It sat up nicely and I could attack it.
“Thankfully it was a match winner.
“Gary is like Jonny Hayes in the sense that when he is one on one with a player you know 95% of the time he is going to beat his man and get a cross in. You can therefore make a run into the area. Gary has put a great ball into the air.
“I thought we defended well late on but we did get lucky when O’Brien hit the bar. It was a great strike. Joe felt he had it covered but then it has dipped late on. It was a scare but then we held out ok after that.
“It is always good to score but the main thing was getting the three points for the team and keeping our good run going at the start of the season. It is all about kicking on now.
“Ross County is a very hard place to come to. Teams will come here and not get any points. They are a big strong team. You have to fight for everything. For us it was four games in nine days. We have done a lot of mileage recently.
“So it was tough but we come away with the win and move on.
“It is a good changing room. A lot of funny characters have come in. It is a good time to be an Aberdeen player and an Aberdeen fan.
“It is hard to say at this stage if the team this season is stronger than last year. What I would say is that there is more competition for places this season. No one is nailed on for a start which is always a good thing. It keeps people on their toes. But if you are doing well and playing well you will keep your place in the team. If you are not playing well you know there is someone who will take your starting place.”
