Stephen Robinson | Hibernian Reaction

Rangers Reaction | Stephen Robinson

Stephen Robinson did not shy away from the seriousness of Aberdeen’s position after they were heavily beaten by Hibs at Pittodrie.

“Really, really disappointing. No hiding away from it. An unacceptable performance, an unacceptable result. We haven't taken our chances, where Hibs had five or six chances, took four of them.

“That's always the difference in football. We haven't scored the chances we've created and so we got the result we deserved. If you don't take chances, you don't win football matches. They did. We've got no excuses. We had opportunities to change the result and we didn't do it.

“We have to be better than that. That's not acceptable. The result's not acceptable. I'm not trying to hide away from that. We have to get players that want to fight and try and get us out of this situation.

“Without winning football matches, the belief is fragile. As soon as we went 2-0 down, it didn't look like we had a way back. I'm not hiding away from that.”

Connor Ronan added to the Aberdeen injury crisis when he went off injured in the second half, adding to the loss of Ayoub Mouloua to illness before the game.

“It's difficult to make up for some of the injuries and illnesses that we've experienced over the last three or four weeks, but people don't want to hear excuses. They want to see action. We weren't able to give them that tonight. We weren't able to give them the performance or our result tonight.

“I think the reaction at the end, we deserved it for the performance. It's not good enough. The last few home games haven't been good enough. That's what we're being judged on at the moment. We've got a fight in our hands. We need people to stand up and fight. It's up to them to prove that they have the character now.

“I've turned situations around many times. I've got belief in my ability. You don't manage 500 games if you don't. It's a difficult situation, difficult at the moment for myself and the players and the club. I will keep fighting. We need everybody to stand up and be counted on. Wins change it very, very quickly.”
