ABERDEEN 0 HIBERNIAN 4 SPFL Premiership Saturday November 7 2026 Pittodrie Ref: Duncan Nicolson Attendance: 15,548 After wasting a string of first half chances, Aberdeen were well beaten by a more clinical Hibs side in the second half. Following the narrow defeat to Rangers, there were three changes for the Dons, Emmanuel Gyamfi injured, Ayoub Mouloua ill, and Gavin Molloy on the bench, as Aberdeen went to a back four. In came Dan Happe, Tony Yogane and Hicham Mahou, getting his first start. After beating Hearts 2-1 at Hampden, there was one change for Hibs, Iredale replacing Mayor. Aberdeen made a confident start, a sweeping move from back to front involving Nicky Devlin, Marius Muller, Nesta Guinness-Walker and Connor Ronan giving Mahou a chance to put a cross in after four minutes. Passlack went down after seven minutes, injuring his hamstring, and he was replaced by Williams. The Dons had a free-kick on 10 minutes, Kevin Nisbet’s effort from 30 yards deflected behind. Aberdeen won another corner on 14, and after Mahou’s ball in was poor, Devlin recycled the ball to him and his shot across goal was well saved by Sallinger at full stretch. Happe was booked in the 17th minute, bundling Boyle over as Hibs looked to break from another corner. Boyle should have had Hibs in front in the 23rd minute, skying the ball over the bar from 10 yards out. Aberdeen had a couple of opportunities to clear their lines without success before Mulligan and Newell combined to set Boyle up with a glorious chance. McGrath had a great chance too on 27, skipping around Afeez Aremu and Brad Lyons, Jack Milne getting in to make a vital block on the shot to send it wide. Aberdeen were on the attack two minutes later, Ronan floating the ball to the back post, Mahou slicing wide after Iredale just got a slight touch on the ball to take it away from him. The Dons should have had the opener on 37. Great persistence from Guinness-Walker saw him drive into the box and square the ball to Nisbet who had the goal at his mercy from a dozen yards out but completely missed his kick. Two minutes later, lovely football from Mahou and Ronan released Devlin down the right. His first time ball through the six yard box was begging for a touch, but it was inches in front of Nisbet’s despairing lunge. Ronan set Nisbet up on 41, and good feet took him away from a defender to create a shooting chance, but his effort was blocked. In the same movement, the ball eventually reached Milne, who slammed one at goal from Scott McKenna territory that forced a brilliant save from Sallinger away to his left. From the resulting corner, Aberdeen kept the pressure on, Milne’s looping header landing on the top of the bar and bouncing to safety. In added time, a neat cross from Williams gave Mulligan another fine chance to score but he put his header wide of the target from eight yards out, standing right in the middle of the goal. HALF-TIME: ABERDEEN 0 HIBERNIAN 0 Ivezic was booked after 50 minutes for sliding in aggressively on Guinness-Walker. Newell cut inside on 55, but pulled his shot wide of the target from the edge of the box. Hibs had the lead three minutes later though, McGrath with time and space 25 yards out in the centre of the goal, and his powerful, swerving strike flashed into the top corner. Ronan went down injured on the hour, and he was immediately replaced, along with Nisbet and Yogane, Lewis Smith, Toyosi Olusanya and Mitchy Ntelo coming on. Lyons went down injured in a challenge with Newell on 64, allowing Mulligan to pour forward, his shot deflected wide by his own player, Elding. He took lengthy treatment and was still off the pitch when Mulligan hit a shot from the same place as McGrath, but to the other side, Muller making a sprawling save to tip it round the post. Lyons was finally allowed to come back on in time for the corner, following which Aremu made way for Stuart Armstrong. McGrath nearly had a second in the 71st minute, a great ball in behind from a free-kick. He hooked the ball across the face of goal from a tight angle, but just wide of the far post. Smith almost had the equaliser in the 72nd minute. It came from a delivery into the box from deep from Armstrong, Smith glancing a header goalwards, but it clipped the post and went wide. Armstrong was the instigator again on 74, arcing a ball through the area, Guinness-Walker unable to get on the end of it at the back post. Hibs then made two changes, Newell and Elding replaced by Klidje and Wright. A curling shot from Smith wouldn’t quite bend back enough in the 77th minute, drifting wide as the Dons tried to find the leveller. It was 2-0 two minutes later though, Hibs on the break, Mulligan feeding Klidje. Muller saved with his feet, but the ball ricocheted into the path of Wright to slot into an empty net. Matondo and Cadden then replaced Boyle and Iredale. On 87, it was 3-0, Cadden drilling the ball across the face of goal and inside the far corner. Mulligan’s cross reached Matondo, who volleyed Devlin in the stomach as the ball squirted back across goal, Cadden pouncing on the ball to fire in. Devlin was helped away for treatment before continuing. It was all too easy for Hibs as they made it 4-0 in the 93rd minute. They sliced Aberdeen open down their right, Wright having all the time he wanted to put a cross into the six yard box, Klidje getting in front of everyone to nudge the ball into the net.
