UPDATE | Monday 10 November
Almost £50,000 has now been raised for Aberdeen FC Community Trust from the sale of the Northern Lights prints so far. Thank you to everyone who has contributed!
For supporters who have already placed orders, prints will be available to collect from 1st December. If they are ready any earlier, Glen Cairns will contact you directly.
Aberdeen Football Club is proud to support the launch of a brand-new Northern Lights Limited Print Series by Glen Cairns Video Productions, raising vital funds for AFC Community Trust (AFCCT).
Following the success of last year’s collection, which sold out in just one week and raised over £23,000 for AFCCT, Glen Cairns is releasing a final limited print series to eclipse that figure this time round and raise a significant five-figure sum for AFC’s partner charity.
The limited print series will again capture the magic of the Northern Lights above Pittodrie on 11th May 2024, this time with some added sparkle, in the shape of signatures from Gothenburg Greats.
The 2025 series will feature four unique designs, with the luxury print run signed by Sir Alex Ferguson, as well as pairings of Sir Alex Ferguson & Archie Knox, Willie Miller & Alex McLeish, and Eric Black & John Hewitt.
The luxury framed prints, which have been independently valued, will be priced between £500 and £1,500, with every penny raised going directly to support AFCCT’s work throughout the North-East, where every £1 received creates £10 of social impact.
In total, 64 framed prints will be available across the four designs, each individually numbered and signed. With several already earmarked for raffles and special events, only a limited number will be available for public sale, and demand is expected to be high following last year’s sell-out success.
The collection will be showcased on Sunday at Pittodrie as the Dons welcome Motherwell, with selected prints displayed in the club’s hospitality lounges throughout the afternoon. Any remaining pieces will then go on general sale from Monday 10th November, both in-store at Pittodrie and online via the AFC Club Shop.
This initiative forms the main AFCCT fundraising campaign in the lead-up to Christmas, with the potential to raise over £50,000 for local programmes delivered by the Trust.
Funds raised will directly support AFCCT’s ongoing work across Aberdeen and the North East, including community outreach, education initiatives, health and wellbeing programmes, and youth development projects.
Upon the reveal of this year’s collection Glen Cairns said, “It was incredible to see the response from supporters last time round and this has been a labour of love of mine since. I’d like to thank Sir Alex Ferguson, Archie Knox, Willie Miller, Alex McLeish, Eric Black & John Hewitt for supporting the initiative and providing their signatures, which just add to the magic.
“It has been a long journey getting to this point, and this will be the last time I make these available, but I know it will be absolutely worth it raising funds for a fantastic cause in AFCCT.
“Getting the signatures was memorable, capturing Alex McLeish’s signature on the day of the Scottish Cup Final no less!
“Capturing the Northern Lights over Pittodrie was a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and to be able to use that to give back to the community makes it even more meaningful.”
AFCCT Chief Executive Peter Davidson added, “The success of last year’s Northern Lights series showed just how much support there is from fans for projects that combine art, AFC, and community impact. Glen’s latest collection is something special and we are all extremely grateful for his extremely generous and thoughtful contribution.
“Not only does the collection celebrate an iconic moment at Pittodrie, but it will also make a real difference to people’s lives through the work of AFCCT.”
