James Maddison was the player who spoke to the media ahead of the Inverness CT game.
“The main reason to come up here was to get first team games.
“I had a full pre-season at Norwich, I had a really good pre-season to be honest, I felt I was playing really well but
“I am only a young lad, still only 19, so it was always going to be hard to get ahead of the likes of Steven Naismith and Wes Hoolahan. I spoke to Alex Neil and said I wanted to go and play games so I was delighted to hear of the interest from Aberdeen and was buzzing to get up here.
“I heard of the interest before deadline day but there are a lot of thigs to take into consideration. There was interest from other clubs so it was important to make the right decision and go to the right club and I definitely think I have done that.
“I have come here to play some games and show everyone what I can do.
“I did not know too much about Scottish football before coming here but that was one of the reasons I chose to move to Aberdeen. I wanted to broaden my view on football. I could have gone to a club in League One which would probably have been easier for me because it is what I know. But I am an ambitious lad and I want to challenge myself.
“I wanted to come and play for a quality team.
“I spoke a lot to my agent who knew about Scottish football. He also made me aware than Aberdeen have had a lot of really positive loan moves in recent seasons. Both Michael Hector and Danny Ward have gone on and done well.
“We have also got a few Scottish players at Norwich; Steven Naismith, Graham Dorrans, Russell Martin, Steven Whittaker. They all spoke really highly of the move. Also when I spoke to the manager here, he was really positive. Everything he had to say appealed to me. Everything he said about the club, not just the football side of it, appealed to me. “I think Aberdeen are getting a creative player who is attacking. I will try create and score goals. I tend to play in the number 10 position but I can also play off the left or the right, where ever the manager wants to play me. I am not bothered where I play, if I am in the team I can hopefully show people what I can do.
“The standard in training has been really high. There are some really good quality players here. I am looking forward to getting on the pitch with them. All the boys have made me really welcome. I really appreciate that. They have all helped me settle in.
“I now just want to play games and show the world what I can do.
“I am a confident young boy but you have to be, coming up here and living on my own. You have to trust your own ability. I am confident I can adapt to the football up here. I believe in myself but now I need to get my head down, work hard and put in the performances.”
