Aberdeen Football Club is proud to unveil the 2026–27 away kit, the first strip created in partnership with Italian sportswear brand Macron, the Club’s new technical partner.
Macron are headquartered in Bologna, home to the oldest university in the western world. Aberdeen, meanwhile, is one of Scotland's great university cities, with an academic heritage that runs to the heart of the Club itself. That connection continues today through the University of Aberdeen’s partnership with Aberdeen FC, further strengthening the bond between the Club, the city and its academic community. Our new 2026/27 away kit brings those two historic university cities together. The away shirt takes inspiration from one of the city’s most iconic landmarks: the Sir Duncan Rice Library and features a white base with black and red detailing on the crew neck collar and sleeve cuffs. The entire shirt is enhanced by an elegant, embossed graphic inspired by the distinctive glazed façade of the Sir Duncan Rice Library, renowned for its irregular bands of transparent and opaque glass that create striking effects of light and reflection. The links between football and education in Aberdeen date back to the origins of the original Aberdeen team, one of the three clubs who came together in 1903 to found the modern-day Aberdeen Football Club. The inaugural meeting of the Aberdeen Association Football Club was held at the Albert Hotel in Correction Wynd at 4pm on Saturday 8th October 1881 and between 1888 and 1898, the club first played at Chanonry Grounds which is today the University of Aberdeen’s Cruickshank Botanic Garden. In 1903 that incarnation of Aberdeen was one of three teams that merged to form the modern-day Aberdeen Football Club, alongside Orion and Victoria United. Several years later, the first recorded usage of 'The Dons' in relation to AFC appeared in print. The Club's famous nickname, 'The Dons', is believed to have its roots in education. The term 'Don' was traditionally used to describe a university teacher or lecturer, and several of Aberdeen's early players were drawn from the teaching profession, earning the Club a nickname that has endured into the 21st century. That academic identity remains strong to this day in the city itself, and this legacy has been thoughtfully woven into the fabric of the design. Completing the design is a subtle yet powerful finishing touch: ‘The Dons’ printed on the back of the neck, quietly reinforcing the identity and history that inspired the kit. The new Aberdeen FC 2026–27 away kit is available now from the Pittodrie Club Shop, or online at afc.co.uk/shop.
Supporters are politely advised that sizing for the new kit may differ slightly from previous seasons. We encourage all fans to review the latest size guide carefully and be mindful of this information before making a purchase, as changes in fit and manufacturing can affect how kits look and feel.
