Derek McInnes | We've found a way to get there.

“It was fiercely fought, two very competitive teams who know each other very well. We had to fight for every inch of the game just to try and get a foothold in it. “You got the feeling that one goal was going to separate the teams, thankfully we got it. “The celebrations at the end are because it's so late and because of the competitive animal that St Johnstone are. The clock was ticking down, with only a few minutes left. “St Johnstone are a very good side, we had to scrap for everything tonight.

“St Johnstone are a very good side, we had to scrap for everything tonight. We had to try and work really hard to get players playing the game forward and getting in between the lines but they are so well organised we found it difficult to get any rhythm.

“Joe Lewis makes a good save onto the crossbar, I was delighted with Ash Taylor following that in, that's as good as a goal that clearance. We've been guilty of not following in at times off the goalkeeper. So a combination of Joe and Ash keeping that ball out of the net gives us that chance to score a goal.

“It's a good goal, Shinnie does well in that wider area but the quality comes from Rooney. His movement just as Shinnie goes to lift his head it just wrong foots Anderson in front of him.

“I thought both defences defended really well tonight. It was an untidy game at times, but it was a fiercely competitive game. A typical cup tie. Both teams were desperate to get to the semi-final and thankfully we've found a way to get there.

On the Semi-Final draw

“When the old firm are in the draw and there's a team from the Championship, we all probably want the Championship team. Morton probably wanted us as well, I'd imagine.

“It's my club really, I've got some of my fondest memories in the game being there and I have a huge attachment to the club. I'm so pleased for them to be in a semi-final. For Douglas Rae and Jim Duffy down there and the work that they are doing. A lot of my friends are Morton supporters and I'm delighted that I get a chance to put myself up against them as well.

“That will be tough game, any team that gets to a semi-final. You've got to play well in a semi-final.
