Aberdeen U18s 4-0 Montrose U18s Cormack Park Scottish Youth FA Cup (Round 4) Tuesday 25 Nov 2025

Summary:

Aberdeen U18’s progressed to the 5th round of the Scottish Youth Cup defeating Montrose 4-0 in a dominant display. After surviving an early scare inside the opening minute, the young Dons settled quickly and took control of the contest, dominating possession and dictating the tempo throughout. Goals from Tristan Stephen, Cooper Masson, and a late brace from substitute Bradley Chikomo sealed a confident and convincing win on a cold night at Cormack Park.

Report:

Aberdeen kicked off proceedings and nearly conceded right from kick-off. After 30 seconds, Dylan Ross lost possession in his own half leaving the Mo’s midfield to pick up the loose ball. Kyle McClement’s shot from range just whiskered past the post.

The Young Dons settled into their rhythm after the early scare. Lewis Carrol played an influential role in doing so, driving forward from his centre back position.

The visitor’s next opportunity came from Ryan Murray. He rode the challenges of Cummings and Masson before striking from outside the box. Theo Simpson remained unfazed, catching the effort.

Masson delivered an inch perfect corner, placing it on Millar’s head. The keeper punched clear but only as far as Aaron Cummings who turned and curled just over the upper left of the post.

A minute later, Masson replicated the delivery, this time Stephen connected with intent, forcing a spectacular diving save from Millar.

Aberdeen suffocated Montrose keeping them penned back for majority of the first half. Some resolute defending from Byrne and Wehncke kept the Mo’s chances alive.

Montrose weren’t for the want of trying though, picking their moments to look forward. Andrew Mochrie set up Ryan Murray with a defence splitting pass, but Carrol made a heroic last ditch sliding tackle to prevent the shot in the 32nd minute.

The deadline was finally broken right on half-time. Joseph Teasdale picked up the ball in acres of space on the right wing, skipping past Aston Harvey before squaring the ball across for Stephen to poke home.

From the restart The Dons regained possession and flew forward. Stephen, who had just scored, turned provider this time as he was found on the right wing before taking the time to pick his pass, cutting it back to Masson who finished with a sweeping first time effort, leaving no chance for Millar.

Half Time: Aberdeen U18s 2 -0 Montrose FC U18’s

The Young Dons kept up their pressure, keeping Montrose in their own half. Ross and Green played high and wide forcing Montrose’s wingers to retreat.

The fullback’s attacking prowess was on full display as in the 58th minute Green picked out his opposite with a looping cross. Ross connected but Millar smothered.

The full-back would test his luck from range moments later, but failed to hit the target.

Moments later, Henderson played through Searle down the left. McClements chased but couldn’t catch the speedster chomping him down and earning himself a 2nd yellow card in the 72nd minute.

The subsequent free kick nearly had the Dons 3-0 to the good as Searle quickly played the ball to Ross catching out the Montrose backline. The captain squared the ball across the 6-yard box, narrowly missed by the toe of Pilkington who had just come on.

The Dons managed to find their third of the evening curtsey of substitute Bradley Chikomo. Oliver Green’s deep cross was squared across the goal for an easy tap in for the forward in the 82nd minute.

Chikomo’s cameo came with a brace. This time, Teasdale again found room on the right wing and curled his cross into the path of the youngster who pounced at the opportunity with a first time right footed finish to close out the game and see Aberdeen through to the next round of the Scottish Cup.
