Jamie McGrath was the player who spoke with the media on Tuesday to preview the cinch Premiership fixture with Livingston at Pittodrie.
“Sunday was desperately disappointing for everyone.
“For the players, for the fans, everyone that travelled down. My family had come over and so had a lot of others so of course you’re going to be bitterly disappointed losing a final.
“Cup finals are always edgy. There’s always going to be a goal in it and up until the 75th minute, I know Rangers had one or two chances, but there was nothing really in the game. We obviously could have done a bit better in possession on the day, maybe created more, but I think the last 15 we gave it a good crack. A bit of luck and we might have had a penalty to force extra-time, but of course we’re very disappointed how it finished.
“But you have to get over it as quick as possible.
“The beauty of it this week is we have a game Wednesday so we don’t have to wait a full week for a game so it’s probably the best thing that could have happened for us having it in midweek.
“Livingston will be coming up here trying to make it hard for us.
“They have a lot of quality in their side. I know they haven’t probably shown that in recent weeks results wise but every game they’ve been in it’s just been the one-goal difference.
“We know it’s going to be a very tricky game. They have the quality to score from a lot of different positions so we have to be aware of that as well but hopefully we come good tomorrow night and we can win our last two at Pittodrie and put a run together starting tomorrow night and go strong into Dundee on Saturday.
“You have to perform every week you play, that’s the pressure of playing here. It’ll be on us tomorrow night to break Livi down and be better in the final third to create a few more chances. On the flipside of that, we know they’re dangerous on the counter and try to stay in possession so we have to be wary of that but I think tomorrow night we’ll have a good crowd behind us and hopefully we can get the three points.
“The gaffer was saying we can’t let our heads drop after Sunday. We’ve had a lot of ups this season, hopefully now we can finish strong now and go well into the New Year.
“It’s an important period over Christmas every year and it’s an opportunity to pick up points.
