Scott gets his first goal for his county

Scotland Under-17s ensured that they won Group 6 in the UEFA European Under-17 Championships elite round with a 100% record following a 1-0 victory over Romania at a blustery Rugby Park this afternoon.

Having already sealed qualification for this summer’s finals in Malta after picking up maximum points in their opening two matches, the Scots completed a hat-trick of victories in their group.

With Bosnia-Herzegovina defeating Belgium 3-0 in the group’s other match at Cappielow, A free kick from Aberdeen’s Scott Wright after two minutes means Scotland top the group with nine points from their three matches.

The win also means that the team are unbeaten throughout the entire qualification process, with five wins and a draw from their six matches.

With their elite round qualifiers completed, Scotland will find out their group opponents in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship Finals next week at the draw taking place the Maltese capital, Valletta on 9th April.

As well Scott, Aberdeen’s Michael Kelly has impressed for the young Scots.
