Aberdeen FC Community Trust is looking for support from local people in a bid for them to vote for the Alternative Therapies project to be brought in to Northfield through a Participatory Budgeting scheme.

The Alternative Therapies project would allow people in Quarryhill Court and local people in Northfield to access AFCCT delivered physical activities and wellbeing initiatives.

Our ‘Active Ageing’ techniques tackle social isolation, get older people more active and give people the chance to have a say on what they would like to do locally in their community.

The activity will become dementia friendly, will upskill local people, provide volunteering opportunities, develop stronger local partnerships and opportunities for intergenerational activity.

AFCCT already have strong links with the Northfield Community through various projects currently being delivered but we are eager to bring more to the area! Alternative Therapies would run in Quarryhill Court Sheltered Housing and Kingswood Dementia Day Care Centre.

As many as 50 people would benefit from the weekly physical activity and wellbeing initiatives. This will ripple into the community, supporting hundreds of people in Northfield in the process. Unpaid family carers will receive local support, the wider community will benefit and the overall health and wellbeing of the older population will be enhanced.
