“I am feeling gutted. Absolutely gutted.

“It feels the same as last year. We were very disappointed in Maribor and wanted to learn from it and learn from the bad experience but this is the same situation where we feel we were good enough but the bottom line is we did not get through. It was the same with Kairat two years ago.

“I thought before the first goal the game was going the way we thought it would have. They were not really hurting us despite having possession. They were not really going anywhere with it, not as such. We were keeping them at the bay but the first goal has killed us. We wanted to keep them out for the first 20 minutes up to the water break.

“We always felt the first goal would be important and it was a poor goal to lose. After that we pushed as much as we could. The second goal comes from us pushing forward. We still only needed one goal to take the game to extra time after that so their second strike did not really mean much. We still had to go out and score which we were desperately trying to do. We pushed hard at the end and had chances but it was not to be. A very disappointing night.”
