“It’s nice to win.
“It’s important for loads of people but especially the players and the supporters.
“We have had a few weekends of late where the players, staff and I have suffered the same as the supporters. The manner of the victory was good, it wasn’t just a case of turning up hoping to win. We controlled the game from start to finish and even though we didn’t get the goal in the first half you could see the calmness, decision making and confidence in the team. It was the type of performance that we have seen time and time again over the last couple of seasons.
“It is good to get back to winning ways, with a clean sheet and the second goal which put a better reflection on the score line as we were totally dominant. I applaud the players for handling what could have been a difficult situation by just playing their game and backing themselves to be better over 90 minutes.
“We have had players who have been trying to find their form. A couple of weeks ago against Motherwell we were back somewhere like it and last week we had something similar even though we lost the game at Celtic. Today, I thought we had far more players playing to their form today and Jonny was obviously one of them. Jonny has been very single minded over the last little while and even though we haven’t won games he has been one of the players who has maintained a decent level of performance and he deserves that today.
“He got to the by-line time and time again, he set up the first goal and he put in a good few crosses prior to that. He then got the second goal by being really positive again. We hope that the goal is the first of many but he was ably backed by his teammates today.
“It was a good performance and I enjoyed watching my team today. It would have been a long two weeks if we hadn’t won and I think the supporters will be a bit more relaxed having seen that performance.
“I thought Willo was magnificent from the first whistle and we defended better because we got our own way from the start. The other team didn’t have as much of the ball as we have seen of late, even the Motherwell game I thought they got a chance to enjoy the game a bit too much at certain spells. Willo was the key to that not being the case today. He has struggled with injuries this season but if he can stay fit like he was when I signed him then he will be so important.
“The six yard box is where Adam lives, that’s where he wants to be more than anywhere else. Peter does well getting across the front and Adam does well just like all good strikers, he hangs about waiting for something to happen and I am delighted for him. He is another one who has really found his form and is in a good place at the minute.”
