Stephen Robinson caught up with RedTV to reflect on the start of our campaign, and to look ahead to what's in store over the coming months.

Subscribers can watch the in-depth interview now.

“I believe we’ve had a really tough start. The fixture list was not particularly kind to us, and we’ve managed to come through that in reasonable shape.

“Can we be better? Of course. But we’re a couple of points off the top four and we’re in a semi-final of a cup. So I think everybody, with the amount of change at the club, probably would have taken that. And we know we’re only right at the very start of this process.

“It was, first and foremost, a really, really tough week before the break. At Kilmarnock, getting the result that we got with ten men as well. Things looked like they were conspiring against us, but what that showed me was the character of the players.

“The support of the fans has to be mentioned because the incredible support we had at Kilmarnock, and Motherwell on a Tuesday night, and at Hibs was incredible. That fight, that team spirit and that togetherness from the club drove the players, so that has to be mentioned.

“It was a tough week that we’ve come through well."

“The away form, it had been poor before I came in here and obviously that hadn’t been reversed from last season. We’ve tried a couple of different things, a different time for travelling on the Friday instead of being in a hotel all day, from three o’clock onwards lying about, which isn’t natural.

“We try and get the players up and onto a pitch, a local pitch where they’re walking through shape and set plays, which we’ve done particularly well.

“Sometimes things like travelling on the day, eating at Cormack Park, where we know we’re in control of what we eat as well. So, all those small tweaks, perhaps it made a difference, but ultimately, the players are the ones that make the difference.

“Hopefully it’ll give the players a lot of confidence as well. Especially, you have to go down to Motherwell, go to Easter Road and put in a good performance."

“Of course, I can tell them they’re good players. They can show that in training without the pressure cooker situation of a matchday experience. But results are what breeds confidence.

“We managed to grind out that result in Kilmarnock, the togetherness, and the belief you could see is starting to come.

“The team shape changed slightly, our line of engagement in terms of our press changed slightly, which made us more compact away from home. And you have to become very hard to break down.

“First and foremost, that was the first thing we said: we’re not hard enough to break down. We’ve done that in the three away games, and that gives you a really good base.

“And of course, we know that we want to score more, we want to create more, and it’s now trying to get the best of both worlds of that balance.

“We have conceded some of the fewest goals in the league, if I’m right in saying. And it’s up to us now to make sure that we can go on.

“We’ve played the top five from last season. We have four games at home now out of the next five, and I think we’re set up nicely.

“There’s a belief coming. There are a group of players that are believing every day, getting better, more knowledgeable every day, and I can certainly see that progress.
