After scoring his third Aberdeen goal on Wednesday night, Simon Church spoke to RedTV:
“It was not the prettiest of victories but it was a great win away from home.
“On the back of the result at the weekend it was a very important result.
“It was a tough game and a tough place to come but we managed to grind out a result, something we did not do at the weekend.
“We wanted to show the fans who came out in force on Wednesday night that we are still hungry and we still want to pick up as many points as we can. I think we showed that.
“For my goal it was an absolute peach of a cross from Shay. It was such a good delivery that I just have to try and get on the end of it and if I do it is a goal.
“It is another goal from a few yards out but they are the best ones! I can’t even kick it further than the 18 yard box anyway! As long as I stay in the box, I will get back to doing what I did during the early part of my career, getting of the end of crosses and chances.
“That is what I came up to Aberdeen to do. To score goals. I came up to help my chances of being in the Wales squad for the European Championships but I also came to help Aberdeen finish the season strongly.
“The manager has been brilliant with me. He has shown me a lot of confidence. That was another massive factor in me coming here.
“I scored the goal but it was a team effort. Scott Brown deserves a mention for some very good saves. The whole defence played well. We wanted to get back to keeping clean sheet.
“Barry Robson played very well. I have massive respect for him. He trains like that day in day out and he never has a day off. He never complains about being stiff or old or anything like that! He is a brilliant professional. He has come into the team and done a job, like a number players have done since I have been here. It shows we have a good squad and everyone will have an important part to play in the weeks ahead.”
