Scottish Cup Match Preview | Dunfermline Athletic v Aberdeen

ST Flag

We’re spending this Saturday night in Fife, with The Dons taking on Dunfermline Athletic in the Quarter-final of the Scottish Cup at East End Park. The Red Army We will be backed by a sold-out away end on Saturday, with over 3500 Dons heading down the road!

Peter Leven “There’s a huge game coming on the weekend. We want to retain the cup, so the boys will rest and recover, and we’ll go again in the latter part of the week.”

Opposition watch Under the stewardship of former Celtic manager Neil Lennon, The Pars sit fourth in the William Hill Championship, six points behind third placed Arbroath. Like Aberdeen they were also in action midweek. They defeated Ross County 3-0 at East End Park on Tuesday, forward Callum Morrison grabbing a brace on the night to take him to three goals in his last two outings, after also grabbing the matchwinner in their 1-0 win over Queen’s Park. In Lennon’s ranks is former Aberdeen defender Kieran Ngwenya, the one-time Malawi international made two appearances for The Dons during the 2020-21 season. Dunfermline have came through ties against Queen of the South, Kelty Hearts, and impressively Hibernian to reach the last eight, who they defeated 1-0 in the Fourth Round courtesy of a 92nd minute own goal.

Last Meeting We met with Saturday’s opposition during last seasons successful Scottish Cup campaign, winning 3-0 at Pittodrie in February. Pape Habib Gueye opened the scoring right on half-time, before a first Dons goal from Alexander Jensen and a late strike from Kevin Nisbet sent us on our way to play Queen’s Park in the last eight.
