Scott Booth shared his thoughts at full-time following a difficult afternoon at Petershill Park for his AFC Women side, who fell to a 6-1 defeat at the hands of league leaders Glasgow City.

“I think it’s a lesson learnt again for us. We’ve had a number of games this season since I’ve come in where when we lose one goal, we lose two, three, and then four. That’s a lesson that we we have to learn, to lose a goal and press the the reset button. Forget the goal. It’s done. Let’s just continue to do the things that we’ve worked on in training, to do the things that we we know will make it difficult for the opposition rather than allow them to to win the game in that fifteen minute spell, which is what pretty much happened today.

‘You then have got to give the players credit for coming through it. You’re no longer in the game, but they had to dig in and work really hard together as a unit to make sure that we kept Glasgow City to as few chances as possible. We had to make saves and blocks and that’s normal. That’s what you’re going to have to do against the the top sides in the league. That that just goes with the territory.

‘It’s not going to get easier because we’re playing another good side on Wednesday, a team that are defending the title. And we know that we’re not going to get much time together prior to playing Celtic on Wednesday. So it’s a difficult task but at the same time, the players will take quite a lot from the game today, in the second half where we’ve kept it much tighter. We’ve managed to get a goal which I feel that the players deserve with the the amount of work that they put in.

‘We know that that 15 minute spell, it killed the game. We know that. But if you take that 15 minutes out of the game, then there were a lot of positives in the way that we worked hard as a unit, I still think we can keep the ball better when we win it. In games like this, if you don’t keep the ball well when you’ve worked hard to to win it back, then you’re going to end up just running the entire game.

‘Ellie is a good player. She’s got an excellent work rate, great attitude, and can play in numerous positions. I was very happy with her. With Emma, sometimes when players change environment and they are thrown into training sessions and everything is a bit different, sometimes they can pick pick up little niggles and there’s no point in us risking her today. We’ll see how she goes and see if she can get closer to some game time on Wednesday.’
