Scott Booth shared his thoughts at full-time following defeat in his first game in charge of Aberdeen Women at the hands of Hibernian.

The new managers side led the contest briefly before going in level at the break – a flurry of second half goals ensuring the visitors were comfortable winners on the day.

“I think we competed really well in the first half. We made it difficult for Hibs, who are a really good side, so we will take positives from that. Our first half performance was good, the team were working hard for each other, and we had more of a threat, which disappeared as the game went on. Hibs were able to take advantage, and then I think fitness levels let us down in the last 15/20 minutes which made it easy for Hibs to threaten our goal.

“I think it is more about the team sticking together. We know this is going to be a challenge (this season). We need to pick up as many points as you can, and you can only do that by sticking together as a squad, which includes making sure we don’t accept any less than that from each other. I think it is a lesson from today, we could have made sure that we dug in as a team and kept the scoreline lower. There is lots of lessons. I have had just two sessions with the players, and based off the first half you can see that there is a big positive there.”

“I think there is a mix of long-term scenarios we need to look at, but there is also things we can try to do immediately which will help us. That is up to the players to try and take everything on board, as quickly as they can, and put it into practise as quickly as we can. However, you can only do that by getting on the training pitch and getting to work.”

“It was brilliant seeing the fans. It was great to see them, it was nice of them to come out and back me and the players. I will just keep sending the message out: please keep coming, because it will help us enormously.”

“Wednesday will be a tough game, we know that. We know that is going to be hard, so now we have to recover and make sure we are ready for that.”
