Scott Booth shared his thoughts after Aberdeen Women were held to a 2-2 draw at Hamilton Academical on Sunday afternoon.

“The first half was very poor. We were passive, weren’t aggressive, and we can’t afford to be like that. We can’t expect to get something from the game when we look like we don’t really want it, and you aren’t on the front foot.

“It all changes in the second half, a completely different team. A different attitude, a different outlook to what we had to do.

“It’s a great strike from Giard for the first goal, but our defending is really poor. And the penalty, I don’t know how they can give that as a penalty. The striker bangs into her arms, and we are told our player took her out. I think if you watch that back, anyone will see that it isn’t a penalty.

“Individual errors again, causing problems for us. The defenders should clear it, and we gift them the ball. As a whole backline we were in a poor shape. We need to help each other out, be connected, and at that moment we weren’t.

“I have no issues with the second half, they worked their socks off. We were positive, asking a lot of questions of them. I don’t think Hamilton have the ball virtually at all in the second half, just once at the end when they break and Katie makes a great save, which can happen when you are chasing the game, you can get caught open, thankfully Katie came to the rescue.

“I think we maybe lacked a bit of quality, we had many opportunities to convert chances into moments of quality. We also probably lacked a bit of luck – we hit the bar, we put a dozen balls into the box, I think the players were claiming a handball on the line right at the end.

“I made it clear to the group, you cannot come to any game in this league and perform like we did in the first half and expect to take any points.

“It’s concerning for me that we are so up and down in terms of our ability to take what we do in training and the way we speak about wanting to play into games for the full 90 minutes. It’s disappointing because it comes in fits and starts.
