Scott Booth shared his thoughts at full-time after Aberdeen Women lost 5-0 at Glasgow City.

“It’s a frustrating one because we played so well for large spells in the game.

“When we analyse it as a group, the game plan worked really well for long periods.

“I think we frustrated Glasgow City a lot, particularly in the first half. Then just through a bit of disorganisation, our starting positions not being exactly on point, which they had been up until that moment, we gave up too much space.

“We didn’t organise properly after that, and for their first goal, we had chances to clear our lines.

“We got back in to block it, but ultimately, it was a chance we gave away through a lack of focus for just a split second.

“Set pieces again, in both boxes, were a key difference. We had chances ourselves but didn’t take them, and then we lost the second goal with the last kick of the ball in the first half.

“You go in 2–0 down rather than 1–0, and honestly, there was nothing in the game up to that point. They hadn’t really created much at all. We were organised, they found it difficult to break us down.

“The first goal was a lapse, and the second was another individual error, just that focus again at a crucial stage.

“After the game, I spoke to the group about growing up a bit in terms of this league and learning how to manage moments.

“You can’t go in 2–0 down when it could’ve been 1–0. That second goal before half-time was a killer. We lost the fifth one right at the end, around the 90th minute, again, no need for it.

“Late in the game, we were a bit naïve. We need to make sure that when we’re tired, we’re not doing things that put us under pressure or out of the game.

“We had two or three individual errors, one that led to a free-kick, and then we didn’t track our runners. We also gave the ball away in midfield when we didn’t need to, and they punished us again.

“There’s a lot to learn from, but we need to take the positives.

“The good parts of our performance have to carry into the next game and stay consistent in those key moments.

“When we need to manage the game, we have to make the right decisions, clear our lines rather than overplay, keep our focus, and stay switched on.

“If you give Glasgow City chances, they’ll take them. Next week it’s a chance to see what we can improve on. There’s not much to fix in terms of our structure because the game plan and the way we trained were spot on.

“It’s just about focus. When that slips, you get punished. They weren’t peppering our goal, Katie didn’t have many saves to make, but when we made errors, they capitalised.”
