“Tonight, to score my first goal of the season and to score at Pittodrie is always special.
“I am very pleased! I don’t score often.
“Any player will tell you it is always good to get a goal and as I say especially as it was here at Pittodrie. It was a special feeling and I want to get more of that.
“I kind of pushed Adam out the way to get on the end of it. I thought you are not getting in my way this time!
“It is actually my third headed goal for the club.
“The celebration was a personal one from the lads!
“The manager has said that we needed to get more goals from midfield so we are not relying on Adam, Jonny and Niall all the time. So, whoever is in there, Graeme, Kenny, myself – the manager wants us to get on the scoresheet and wants goals from all over the pitch.
“I think apart from two or three players now, everyone who played today, has scored. So, everyone is chipping in and doing their bit including myself now and hopefully that will give me the confidence to get on the scoresheet more regularly.
“So, I am pleased from a personal point of view but it was a great team performance. We have a good bit of momentum now and we want to keep that going. The spirit we are showing is excellent.
“After the result in the cup we knew Dundee would come here and fight hard and put in a performance so it was important that we came out of the traps quickly. The start of the game was a bit frustrating because they sat in and played five at the back. They did well in the early stages. It is important though when you get the first goal to build on that because more gaps appear. We took full advantage.
“I was right behind Niall’s goal. It was a fantastic strike. As soon as it left his foot I thought it was going in. He has come back flying since his winter break and his confidence is high. He is a big player for us so it is important that he keeps it going. He is enjoying his football at the minute.
“We can now enjoy our weekend and then see what the other results are. There is a long way to go until the end of the season so we just want to keep our momentum going and keep picking up as many three points as possible. We will see where it takes us.”
