Andrew Considine
In 2006, Aberdeen produced an astonishing comeback from 2-0 down, going on four or five, to win 3-2, with Barry Nicholson netting the winner in front of the shed and a young Andrew Considine who was a substitute that afternoon.
“I was on the bench that day and came on at the end to protect the lead. I remember I was warming up at the point when we scored the third goal and the place erupted. The Aberdeen end was bouncing. Dundee United had a really good team back then so it was a very good win. “I have been a lot of memories against United in cup competitions, some good ones, some bad ones. Sunday will be a huge game, it always is when the two sides meet, whether it be them coming up here, or us travelling to Tannadice. We have also played at a neutral venue on a couple of occasions during my time at the club.
“Dundee United are a team the league misses. I am sure it is a game our fans miss, especially the trips to Tannadice. I know they will take up a decent support up here on Sunday and there will be a good atmosphere.
“I’m looking forward to the game and it will be good to see some familiar faces with Willo Flood and Paul Quinn coming back.
“Having played St Mirren in the last round, we will prepare for the game in a similar way and give them a lot of respect. We certainly won’t think of them as being a Championship club.”
“We are certainly going into the cup game in good form. At the moment I feel like when we get that all important first goal, we don’t look like losing the game, which is encouraging. That was something we have done well in recent years. The confidence is slowly building.
Graeme Shinnie
“We know exactly what to expect. Like St Mirren, Dundee United are a team trying to get promotion and a team who have been winning more than they have been losing in the league. Again, they will be coming up here with a bit of confidence who will want to test themselves against a Premiership side. We need to do what we did to St Mirren, go out and put in a professional performance and be as ruthless as we can.
“Aberdeen v Dundee United games are always enjoyable to play in. They are good games. As the fans of both sides don’t have so far to travel as they often do, there are normally good crowds and that adds to the atmosphere. The fact it is a cup game will also add to the mix.
“It is a game we are looking forward to and we all know what is at stake. We want to do as well as we can in this competition and we are desperate to go one step further than last year

I’ve attended many of those confrontations over the years in both national knockout competitions, but there are two which will always resonate more than the others.
The first was the semi-final of the Scottish Cup back in 1990 at Tynecastle, one of the last commentaries I did for Northsound. There were the usual difficulties, foremost being finding out where our broadcast vantage point was – as it turned out, inside what can only be described as a shed at the back of the old main stand – and the lottery of hoping that I would actually be able to make contact with the King’s Gate studio, which after numerous attempts, I eventually did.
From that point onwards, it was plain sailing.
