preview In this week’s RedMatchday Scottish Cup special: Mark Reynolds “I think I’m close to playing the best football of my career. It is always nice playing in a team that is doing well. They say that when a defender is playing well, you should not really notice or hear about them. It is good that we can just go quietly along and let the boys up top score all the goals and get all the headlines.

“I think I’m close to playing the best football of my career. It is always nice playing in a team that is doing well. They say that when a defender is playing well, you should not really notice or hear about them. It is good that we can just go quietly along and let the boys up top score all the goals and get all the headlines. If things continue like that for the rest of the season, we will be doing ok.”

Russell Anderson

“What we must be absolutely certain of doing is giving Dumbarton maximum respect and our full concentration today because as we’ve seen all too often in the past, if you allow your standards to slip or if you become complacent against teams from the lower division, things can go badly wrong

“We have to match the eagerness and focus that I’m sure Dumbarton will bring to the game today and look to match the high standards that have brought us this far in the Scottish Cup. Anything less than that and we all know that this could be a very tough afternoon for us.”

Ryan Jack

“The goal was not one of my better efforts to be fair! I don’t know what happened to the keeper but if you get the ball on target, there is always a chance the ball will go in. It was such a great feeling when it hit the net. There was also a massive feeling of relief. It has been a difficult spell for me, getting the injury and then having to work my way back to fitness.

“The manager makes sure he gets across to us that there is still a long way in the season to go, even although we are now in March. There is still a lot of football to be played, a lot to play for, so we will keep working extremely hard and remain focused.”

Mitch Megginson

“Training was always good under Derek McInnes and you could tell that Aberdeen were going to be a real force this season, but I am very happy where I am, getting to play week in, week out. That was all I wanted to do.

“We definitely feel we’ve exceeded expectations. Most people thought we would be fighting relegation but we knew we had a good squad and could do well. We set out to be the best part-time team in Scotland but our hopes have grown as the season has gone on. Now we are pushing for a play-off place.”

Bryan Prunty

“Although it didn’t really work out, Aberdeen gave me my first real chance in senior football and I will always be grateful for that.

“The game will be good for everyone at Dumbarton, with the players getting the chance to play the Dons and the fans making the journey. We don’t have anything to lose and are really looking forward to it.”
