This season's RedMatchday Magazine is packed with even more exclusive and in-depth interviews, even more player features, more behind the scenes photos, even more historical features, even more columnists plus some new features.
And the RedMatchday team have just put together their third programme in seven days, but despite this Tuesday’s issue is with even more interviews and features:
In RedMatchday Issue 13, This evening’s featured player is Wes Burns: “In December we have eight games to play so everyone will get a chance to play their part at some point. You have to make sure you are ready to take that chance.
“I speak to the manager quite often, whether it be on the training field or off the field. He is always telling me to I have to be ready. I have to be ready to take my place, I have to be ready to score goals so that I can be most effective when I do play. You have to work hard and make sure you are prepared for when you get the call”.
“James and I get on well. We room together, we are both up here on loan so are in a similar situation, we have both come from clubs down south and we both have the same birthday as well!! We clicked straight away when he came in. I played against him in League One last season so I knew about him. When we played Coventry away, I wondered who this small person was, running about the field nutmegging everyone! He was a very good player who made an impression”.
PLUS there is an interview with Peter Pawlett: “Naturally I am frustrated at not playing as much as I would have liked this season, every player wants to play week in week out. But you have to get your head down and work as hard as you can and then be prepared to take your chance when it comes along. During my time in the game, I have learnt you need a bit of luck sometimes, for example to get a goal out of nothing.
“I could do with the opportunity to play three or four games in a row and hopefully that will come for me at some point during the season. We all know it is going to be a very long season and everyone in the squad will have a part to play at some point.
“I have been here long enough to compare where we are now and where we were before. We are not doing too badly and the club is in good shape. We are still fighting for second spot and have the Scottish Cup to look forward to in January. If during the winter break we are sitting second, then it will not have been a first half of the season.
PLUS, the FP’s feature is an interview with former Don Barry Nicholson. Barry spoke to journalist and English based Dons fan Peter Elliott and chatted openly about his time at Pittodrie, his reasons for leaving and we find out what he is up to now. Well worth a read: “I remember it well,” he recalled ruefully. “I got caught up in the celebration of scoring so late in the game, forgetting that I had just been booked ten minutes earlier. That was such a massive result.
“It was coming up to the end of the season, and the lads had been working in the gym trying to get their bodies ready for the summer holidays. We had been taking the mickey out of each other, and agreed that we would take our tops off if we scored.
“Of course, when I scored, it was right in front of the Dons fans and for a split second I lost it and stripped off. As soon as I had done it, I was trying to get it frantically back on, but Darren Mackie was grabbing me, so I couldn’t.
“I missed the Celtic game at Parkhead the week after because of that, but was back for the Rangers game, the last game of the season.
“When we got the European draw, Dnipro were pretty unknown to us. We watched them on video, but it was a case of trying to prepare the best we could. Getting through to the group stages was going to be massive for us.
PLUS, there are the usual columns from manager Derek McInnes, skipper Ryan Jack, Richard Gordon, and Chris Crighton. In the history section, there is 16 pages of stories and photos from the Dons archive. One of the new features introduced this season is a fans Q&A. This gives our readers the chance to be in this season's magazine. And we want to hear from you! We are still looking for a few more supporters to get involved. if you would like to feature please email the programme editor Malcolm at: [email protected]
