The new look Red Matchday magazine will be on sale from the AFC Club Shop and from the sellers in and around the ground. Throughout the season we will have the biggest and best interviews with the first team squad members.
This week there is a special interview with Ester Sokler:
There has been a lot to enjoy around Aberdeen since the start of this new season as the Dons have reeled off a string of wins and, every bit as important, played with a real purpose under the new management of Jimmy Thelin. There’s plenty of credit to pass around, not least to the man who has taken on the job of leading the line this season, Ester Sokler.
“Last year is my first season in Scottish football, I was for the first time away from home, so this was a bit hard. I had some hard times when I was not playing so much, and also some very good times.
“And now this season, it’s, of course, easier. I know everything about the club. I am more settled and more ready to play my best. I like the way the new manager wants to play also, this pressing style. I think it suits me, with the quick counter-attacks, it’s good for me. It’s all about pace. You have to be 100% for all the 90 minutes, so it’s good.
“The new manager is very good for me. You can talk with him about everything. He is very open, this is important. He wants to help each player get better. He cares about people, because all the staff as well, it’s not just about the players, he wants everybody in it together. He knows how to motivate players. He knows how to get the best out of everybody.”
There is also a feature with Silvert Heltne Neilsen, Gavin Molloy plus the thoughts of manager Jimmy Thelin and captain Graeme Shinnie. The U18 Q&A is done by Ellis Clark and the AFC Women’s interview is with Lois Edwards.
Plus, all the usual in-depth stats and history articles and photos from the AFC archives with our new features and columnists.
