The Aberdeen Women’s Co-Managers both spoke after the 6-0 win over Westdyke on Sunday afternoon in Westhill.
Harley Hamdani
“It was good to get back on the pitch after a few weeks off.
“There are a couple of tough games coming up before the summer break, including this one, so it was good to get the win today and get it behind us, and get the players back out playing again.
“It was also good to have a key focus again.
“In the last couple of weeks we have not had a game to build into during training so it was about making sure we were ready and sharp enough for this afternoon.
“There was some really pleasing elements out on the pitch today.
“We spoke about three or four objectives before the game and we have achieved those. That was the main thing, we have come away with a good performance as well as a good result.
“Westdyke are one of the most organised sides that we have come up against in this league in terms of how they set up and they make think about how you use the ball and what you have to do to hurt the opposition so it was a very pleasing win.”
Emma Hunter
“Credit to Westdyke, they made it really difficult.
“They defended really really well. They have a lot of young players who are willing to give everything for the cause.
“It made it really challenging for us, especially getting shots off because they closed us down very quickly.
“It was important that we moved the ball quickly to try and move them around to create opportunities. We managed to that and scored some very good goals.
“I think we could maybe have come away with more goals, so that is something that we definitely need to keep working on. We still need to be more clinical as we move forward.
“I do think we maybe need to give the players more credit for how far they have come.
“We are always wanting more and we push them very hard, but that is just because of the high standards that we have.
“We do analyse all our games and watch them all back and it is clear the improvements that are being made.
“We have come in with a lot of things that we want to implement so it does take time and we need to be mindful of that.
“We had three key objectives today and we achieved them. We do that game by game, give the players things to focus on, and as long as we meet those objectives each week then hopefully the future will continue to build and build and we will continue to develop as a team.”
