MATCH PREVIEW

AFC Women will be looking to build on Sunday’s victory over Hamilton Accies when they travel down the A90 to Dundee on Wednesday evening. Gavin Levey’s side put in a dominant performance against Accies but in the end had to settle for a single goal margin against the side sitting in the relegation play-off spot. They now head to the city of Discovery looking for their second win there this season having defeated United by two goals to one in November at Tannadice- Bayley Hutchison clinching all three points in the final few moments. The side sit in 10th place in the Park’s Motor Group SWPL1 table, 5 points clear of that play-off position with 7 games to go. United have an identical record and sit above The Dons on goals scored.

Ahead of this one Gavin Levey, skipper Loren Campbell and striker Bayley Hutchison commented:

Gavin: “We are starting to show how well we can play, the team are starting to move the ball a lot better as well and being able to dominate possession. We’ll make sure we go in on Tuesday night’s training working on that final third and making sure we’ve got that real cutting edge about us.

“They’ll not relax on that performance on Sunday. The message we gave them after the match was that it shouldn’t have been that close at the end of the game. We should be going in comfortable coming off the pitch. That’s what we’ve got to do, prepare ourselves and if we can get that bit right then they will be absolutely flying going into the game on Wednesday night without a doubt.”

Loren: “It’s a massive game. Dundee United and ourselves are targeting to get on top of each other. It’s a team we’ve beaten once and they’ve beaten us once so it’s going to be a really tight game. Coming away after a win on Sunday, hopefully we can take that confidence into Wednesday.”

Bayley: “We know what Dundee United are like. They are going to be strong, keep the ball and they’re going to be hard to break down. But I think if we bring that momentum into Wednesday and manage to play like we did on Sunday, I don’t see why we can’t get the three points. It’s not a given- we need to work hard and I guess down to hard work in training and who wants it more.”
