Players Thank The Fans

Tributes to the Red Army After the game on Sunday many of the players spoke to REDTV before getting on the team bus. All of them were full of praise for the Red Army MARK REYNOLDS “It was incredible, the fans were unbelievable. Walking out, I think it was the best thing I have ever seen. You come to Celtic Park and you are used to the noise but to come out and see that sea of red and white and the display at the start was just unbelievable and I think it just gave the boys that little lift they needed.

“It was incredible, the fans were unbelievable. Walking out, I think it was the best thing I have ever seen. You come to Celtic Park and you are used to the noise but to come out and see that sea of red and white and the display at the start was just unbelievable and I think it just gave the boys that little lift they needed. Even during the game when it was getting stretched and boys were getting tired the crowd were right there with us and they could feel that and they would get louder and louder so massive thanks to them for that.”

RYAN JACK

“It is an experience I have never experienced before in football. Winning a trophy in that kind of environment, it is a very unique feeling. A very special one.

“There was a lot of pressure on us before the game and we were all very aware of the level of support we had at the game. None of the boys wanted to let them down. We managed to dig out the result and it was brilliant taking the trophy home on the bus after the game.

“The fans made the difference on Sunday. When it got down to the business end of the game they came to life. They helped us through the final minutes of the 90, helped us through extra time when the legs were starting to tire and they made such a noise during the penalty shootout.”

WILLO FLOOD

“It was not the best game but know cares! We took the cup home and that is all that matters!

“The fans were unbelievable. I spoke to my mate the night before the game and told him he would not believe the crowd we were taking to the game. But even then to walk out at the see that support was incredible. There are very few clubs who could bring that level of support and we know how fortunate we are to have them.

“The atmosphere they created was superb, it was a carnival atmosphere. Hopefully in the future they can re-create that at Pittodrie. The away fans have been brilliant all season and it would be great to get that noise at home. The fans have been great since I came to the club and I would like to thank them all.”

NIALL McGINN

“We want the fans to stick with us and keep coming. Even thought we wanted more tickets the amount of fans here was just incredible. Pulling up to Celtic Park and seeing all the fans standing there it was just an unbelievable experience and we want more days like this, we want to be hungry and keep kicking on. We’ve got second place to play for and our Semi Final so hopefully this is the start of something special for us.”

RUSSELL ANDERSON

“We had it very much in mind that we didn’t want to let the supporters down. We’ve seen it day after day as we go in to work just how many people were queuing for tickets but to sell 40,000 was just beyond belief to be honest. It shows the appetite for success that there is in the city and we were desperate to give it to them. Winning the cup was for them as much as for us, for the staff behind the scenes at the club, a lot of them have had to endure some poor seasons as well, so I am thrilled for everybody.”

ADAM ROONEY

“In the end we probably could have sold 50,000 tickets because before the game I was still hearing from a lot of people who were looking to go. It is an incredible support and they did give us such a lift especially late on when a few of the boys were struggling with cramp. Their support and noise level during the penalties was also very important. They made it an occasion to remember.

“The job now is to make sure this is not a once in a 20 year experience for these supporters.”
