Paul Sheerin | his post match thoughts

“It was a hard fought win. “I actually thought it was a good game of football. I thought Hibs were decent. They a good side with good moment which did cause us problems for a while in the first half. Once we got to grips with that I thought we did well but I thought we were a little lethargic at times in that first period. “In the second half I thought we went and got after the ball better and we got our reward for it. Overall I am pleased with the outcome of the game.

“At 1-0 the game is always a bit edgy despite us being comfortable for much of the second period and after what has happened the last two games (when we lost very late goals) I was asking Scott how long was left! It is funny how you get into a patterns at times in football but fortunately we stood strong when they threw the ball forward and asked questions. That was pleasing.

“We did make a couple of little mistakes which we could have done without but this afternoon I thought we were pretty solid.

“Aaron was called into action to make a couple of very good one on one saves when we switch off and they get inside us. Arron stood up really well, bides his time and then recognises the time to go down and make the save. I think on both occasions he made the block with his chest. Great goalkeeping.

“In terms of things in front of him I thought Michael Rose and Scott McKenna both played well and won their headers.

“ Obviously he was out for a while but he looked after himself throughout that time and now he is reaping the rewards by getting into the first team. For me it is the hardest position on the pitch, along with that of a goalkeeper. It is the hardest position to develop so for him to get into the first team at this stage of his career is great for him. I thought he did very well on Saturday. The last two plays of the game were Scott’s booming 50 yard headers which is something he is so good at.

“The goal today was excellent from Frank.

“In terms of his play on the ball I thought Frank and also Scott Wright were superb. I asked the question at half time could they do more against the ball and that is something they need to learn. There is no getting away from that. But in terms of them going forward, some of their football is incredible.

“Having Barry Robson with us is brilliant. I know I have said it before but if the young boys can pick up little things off Barry then it is very beneficial for them. I love when he comes along and plays for the 20s. His attitude to the game is superb, it always has been, and it always will be. I know he is desperate to play in the first team and he knows he has to keep his game time up, so we will happily have him do that with us! Hopefully the players will realise how luck they are to play alongside him.”
