AFC Women’s manager Clinton Lancaster has confirmed that Nadine Hanssen is going to be captain of the Women’s side for season 2023/24.

In addition, Francesca Ogilvie has been named vice-captain.

Clinton, appointed as the side’s first ever full-time manager last week, gave his reasons for the decision:

“Nadine’s experience as well as her attitude and application in training makes her the perfect fit to captain the club. She is a fantastic role model to the younger players.”

The 29-year-old Dutch midfielder, who has played professionally in England and in Europe before that, spoke of her delight at being handed the captain’s armband.

“It is a great honour to be named captain of the team and a very proud moment for me personally. I’m looking forward to representing the club and doing the best I can to lead the team on and off the pitch this season.”
