Almost three quarters of Aberdeen fans would like to sit in the more heavily populated areas of Pittodrie Stadium. That’s according to the recent survey undertaken by Aberdeen Football Club as part of the ongoing review of the match-day experience.
Two thousand and seventy five supporters participated in the initiative which was designed at establishing views and opinions on all aspects of the match-day that can assist in generating a positive atmosphere throughout the day and creating more of an event out-with the 90minutes.
And, as Pittodrie Sales and Marketing Manager Lynne Duncan outlines, the information collated will be extremely useful going forward. “As you would expect, there was a fair amount of constructive criticism covering various aspects including catering, the PA system, stewarding , entertainment and even having a dedicated theme tune to greet the team on match days. The majority of those who responded were in favour of having supporters concentrated closer together to create a better atmosphere around Pittodrie Stadium.
“Complementary to the survey we have also been canvassing every season ticket holder in the Upper Deck of the Richard Donald Stand in order to establish their views on whether they would be in favour of that particular area of the ground being closed on a more permanent basis during the season, rather than at selected matches, as is the case at present. This aspect is still being reviewed with a decision likely at the conclusion of the current season when all options have been thoroughly considered.
“As we said at the outset of the survey, our ultimate objective is to make Pittodrie a fortress once again with a positive siege mentality within a much improved match-day atmosphere.”
