Aberdeen Women play at Pittodrie on Tuesday evening (30th April) when they take on Montrose in the SWPL1. This will be the third game that Aberdeen Women have played at the home of AFC, having previously taken on Rangers and Glasgow Women.

Bayley Hutchsion who won the Player of the Year Award on Thursday night and has also been nominated for the SWPL1 PFA Scotland Player of the Year, sat down with RedTV to preview the game at Pittodrie:

“Thursday night at the Player of the Year Awards was kind of scary, it was a big event. When I saw my name come up on the board I was delighted to win it but then I realised I would have to speak in front of all of the people that were there! That award could have gone to anyone with the way we have been playing this season. For my name to come up was a proud moment. It’s a credit to the team and how Clint has got us playing.

“Clint has come in and instilled some confidence in the team. He is one of the best managers that I have worked with. The way that he can speak to you on a personal and then a professional level is so good. Everyone buys into how we wants to play. You can see that with the way that we play, everyone wants to get the ball, everyone is more confident, they want to shoot, all of that stuff. Also how he has got us training, how the team are together. Everyone wants to score and do well. I think the girls want to do him proud.

“I have just been nominated for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year which I am really happy with. The girls in Scotland around the country have voted for me. It is a big moment for me. I have been to these awards before, not a lot of people can say that. It is a proud moment. I have tried to get myself on the end of more chances this year and build my confidence up a wee bit. You can see it in our overall play.

“I was aiming for 15-20 goals this season. The league is a lot more competitive this season with more teams going full-time so I didn’t actually think I would get there or where we end up in the league. I have scored 24 goals so far so now I am aiming for 30! I want to beat Bojan to 30 goals this season!

“Being an Aberdeen fan, it is every kids dream to play at Pittodrie. It will be a good game, it will be tough. Montrose is always a hard game, they always bring the fight. Now we are playing at Pittodrie it is going to be even bigger, they are going to want to beat us there. All of the girls are excited we have only played there twice before. It will be hard but it will also be fun. Hopefully the fans come out and it is a good atmosphere.

“I have played in both of the previous games at Pittodrie. The first game I was nervous, we were playing Rangers so we knew it was going to be a hard game. Getting the fans there, seeing the young girls and boys at the games and seeing that you are a role model to them is a big deal. It is important to try and connect with the fans, women’s football is growing and hopefully we can get a good crowd.

“I am hoping to score at Pittodrie! If I score but we lose it means nothing. As long as we get the three points. If I can get on the scoresheet then it is a nice bonus.

“Our aims for the rest of the season are we want to cement seventh place, we were disappointed we didn’t get in the top six. We want to be the best of the rest. Personally I want to reach 30 goals and maybe get a Scotland A team call up. Never say never.”
