The club is delighted to announce defender Mark Reynolds has signed a contract extension, keeping him at Pittodrie until the summer of 2019.

Mark, who arrived at the club in January 2012 on an initial six-month loan deal, has made 226 appearances to date (214 starts and 12 sub appearances) and has scored 7 goals.

The 30-year-old, who has been a vital member of the first team, was named AFC Player of the Year for season 2013-2014 and collected his first domestic honour as part of the Scottish League Cup winning side in 2014.

Along with Andrew Considine, he is one of only two players who has remained in the first team squad since Derek McInnes arrived at Pittodrie.

And the manager was pleased to see such a prominent player extend his stay with the club.

“Mark has been absolutely brilliant to work with. He’s a great teammate, the staff are extremely fond of him so we’re delighted to get him signed up.

“Getting good centre halves in the building isn’t always easy and we’re pleased he’s secured his future with us. He was so eager to get it done, he loves it at the club and that’s music to our ears.”

Mark added. “I have made no secret of the fact I have loved my time here. When the manager asked me to commit again and extend my deal by another two years I was delighted.

“I was lucky to come in at a time when Aberdeen was on the rise and every year we seem to have got better and better and the signs for this season are already very good. We have got a very strong squad so it was a very easy decision to make.”

RedTV will have an interview with Mark later today.
