Ahead of what could be her 100th appearance for The Dons this weekend, Maddie Finnie previewed Aberdeen Women’s crucial upcoming game against Montrose. “If I can get to the 100 mark on Sunday, it’ll be a special occasion for me. I feel like I’ve been here so long! To reach 100 at 19 would be a good achievement. “There has been a lot of developing, being a really young player, I think that’s been the main part for me, getting so much game time and so much experience in the top league. It’s been so beneficial.
“There has been the challenging moments, but you learn from them, and there’s also been some really high times. “It’s nice, but right now we have a job to do, we need to be focused, then in the summer I can reflect. “I do think I’m one of the leaders in the dressing room. Like I said, being exposed to senior football at such a young age, I can help the even younger girls coming through, that’s important to me.
“The Montrose game before the break was difficult for us. We got the lead so early in the game, and we competed well. We need to learn how to manage a game till the end. “It was a really disappointing end. I’m looking forward to the weekend, a chance to correct that and get the points we need. “We need to have the attitude where we stick together. We work for each other till the very end, till that final whistle. “We’ve had two weeks to reflect, look at ourselves and analyse, so that will help us. We need to be as prepared as possible, to be ready for Sunday. “I think everyone knows the situation we’re in, and we know that as a team, we shouldn’t be in this situation, and that we need to get out of it. We still can. We need to stick together.
“The past is the past. We can’t change that. we need to win our remaining games; we all know that. “The games against Montrose this season have been disappointing. We know what to expect on Sunday, we know their strengths, their physicality, their aggression, which are things we need to bring this weekend to try and get the points we know we can get. “We have to go and win these games. We have to focus on ourselves, give everything, knuckle down, and do our best to make it happen.”
