AFC Player of the Year Dinner 25/26

The annual Aberdeen FC Player of the Year Awards, sponsored by Team Recruitment & Tulloch Recruitment, were held at the P&J Live on Thursday evening. The 12 award winners are listed below. Aberdeen FC Community Trust Supporter Award (Sponsored by CNR International) This award recognises the outstanding contribution made by an individual, group, or organisation in support of the AFC Community Trust’s vision with the winner chosen by the Trust. The Aberdeen FC Community Trust Supporter of the Year is Barry Duncan. Barry has supported Aberdeen FC Community Trust for over a decade, including 8 years as a trustee. His dedication to AFCCT and other causes across the North-East has been significant which everyone at AFCCT would like to thank him for.

Men’s Development Player of the Year (Sponsored by Fowler McKenzie) The winner of this award has been choosing by the Development Team coaching staff at Cormack Park. They have selected the young player that has performed best while out on their development loan. The winner of the Development Player of the Year is Findlay Marshall. It’s been an outstanding campaign for Findlay with Arbroath in the Championship, playing his part in securing a play-off spot for the Smokies, scoring 15 times from midfield. Marsh was recently rewarded with a new contract that will see him remain with The Dons until at least summer 2028. Congratulations, Findlay.

Women’s Young Player of the Year (Sponsored by Peterson) The Young Player of the Year award recognises the young player who has made the biggest contribution to their respective First Team throughout the campaign. The winner of Women’s Young Player of the Year is Maddie Finnie. Still only 19, Maddie has been an ever-present at the back for The Dons throughout the campaign and could make her 100th appearance for the Club if she features against Montrose on Sunday. Well done, Maddie.

Men’s Young Player of the Year (Sponsored by MGS Logistics) The Men’s Young Player of the Year for 2025/26 is Dylan Lobban. Last season’s Development Player of the Year, Dylan made his senior Dons debut in our 1-0 win at Kilmarnock back in October, and has gone onto make 13 appearances this season, starting on 10 occasions. Congratulations, Dylan.

Women’s Players’ Player of the Year (Sponsored by Boskalis) AFC Women’s Players' Player of the Year is Maddie Finnie. More deserved recognition for the young Dons defender. Well done, Maddie.

Men’s Players’ Player of the Year (Sponsored by RAM Tubulars) Chosen by their teammates, the Players' Player of the Year award reflects who the playing squad has made the biggest contribution during the season. Our 2025/26 Men’s Player’s Player of the Year is Mats Knoester. After impressing during the second half of the 2024/25 season, Mats picked up where he left off in 25/26 with a series of commanding performances, and the defender showing a very high level of consistency. Congratulations Mats.

Women’s Top Goal scorer (Sponsored by Boskalis) The captain, Hannah Stewart, is the recipient of our Women’s Top Goal scorer Award, after netting on eight occasions across the campaign. Well done, Hannah.

Men’s Top Goal scorer (Sponsored by Highland Industrial Supplies) Kevin Nisbet takes home our Men’s Top Goalscorer Award. After his permanent arrival in the summer, ‘Nizzy’ has found the back of the net on 11 occasions, most recently grabbing an important double in the win over Hibernian. Congratulations, Kevin.

Women’s Goal of the Season (Sponsored by Miller Plant Ltd) This award is voted for by the Red Army, with the RedTV team drawing up the shortlist. The 2025/26 Aberdeen Women Goal of the Season winner is Hannah Stewart, for her excellent header to make it 2-2 against a strong Celtic side at the start of the campaign.

Men’s Goal of the Season (Sponsored by Vision Scotland) The Men’s team Goal of the Season winner is Marko Lazetic for his incredible goal in the 96th minute at St Mirren in October. An excellent piece of individual brilliance when it mattered most. Congratulations, Marko.

Women’s Player of the Year (Sponsored by Boskalis) The Red Army were given the opportunity to vote for both the Men’s & Women’s Player of the Year awards, based off of who they felt had the biggest impact on team performances this season. The AFC Women’s Player of the Year award winner is Hannah Stewart. Making it a hat-trick of awards on the night, the captain wins the ‘big one’ for the first time in her Dons career, thoroughly deserved recognition.

Men’s Player of the Year (Sponsored by Central Coaches) The AFC Men’s Player of the Year for 2025/26 is Mats Knoester. The central defender has featured 31 times for The Dons this season, and scoops the coveted award as rightful appreciation from the Aberdeen supporters. Congratulations Mats, and we all look forward to welcoming you back onto the pitch.
