Later this month the popular Katoni Cup will return to Aberdeen Sports Village, hosted by the Aberdeen FC Youth Academy, and with an additional day of activity added it will be the biggest one yet!

In partnership with event sponsor, Katoni Engineering, the highly regarded event returns for a 7th year offering the best young players in Scotland the opportunity to display their technical and creative ability in a competitive environment.

In addition to the hugely successful Katoni Cup, this year will see the introduction of the Katoni Festival which has been created to give U12 teams the opportunity to take part in fun filled matches and will give a taste of the competition they can look forward to in future.

The Katoni Cup will take place at Aberdeen Sports Village on Saturday 25th January with the Katoni Festival taking place on Sunday 26th January, all supporters are encouraged to come along to cheer on the young Dons competing.

The Dons 2012’s side claimed victory against the other elite Scottish academies in last year’s competition which combines traditional five-a-side rules with the Futsal.

The 2025 edition will have U13 teams across Scotland join Aberdeen in a highly competitive competition and it’s one AFC Youth Academy Director Stuart Glennie is looking forward to.

“Katoni has always been a huge supporter of the Youth Academy and aided us in many ways, we’re delighted to be hosting this tournament again as it’s been a real success to date and allows us to give our players the chance to showcase their skill.”

“We are grateful for Katoni’s desire and commitment to drive this event on, helping to encourage best practice in young player development.”

James Bream, CEO of Katoni said “It’s a privilege to support this event again and in a quirk due to the change of age group we’re going to have an Aberdeen team returning as defending champions”.

“Whoever wins, the tournament brings fun, high quality competition and the best of Scottish talent to the place we are proud to call our home… Come on you Reds!”

The tournament at the Aberdeen Sports Village will be packed full of action, with music in between matches, individual awards and will combine the elements of competition that come with being footballers.

The victory this time last year started another excellent season for academy teams including the U19s securing the 23/24 league title and earning the opportunity to take on Europe’s best with a spot in the 24/25 UEFA Youth League.

Look out for further information via our channels as the event gets closer and the build-up gets fully underway.
