“It is very good to be back.
“I am very happy to have made this move.
“The old place has had a few licks of paint but otherwise everything is pretty much the same. Same old faces as well. It is very homely.
“I first heard of the interest from Aberdeen about two weeks ago. As soon as I heard I told me agent to get on it and make it happen. It has been a difficult process but we got there in the end so I am very happy about that.
“The manager told me about how the club has changed and how it has moved forward. But he did not have to sell the club to me.
“The relationship I have with the Aberdeen fans was an important factor when making the decision. It is always good to feel welcome. It puts a lot more pressure on me! Hopefully I can stand tall and do well. But yes, the way the fans are to me definitely played a big role in me coming back.
“I have done about three weeks of pre-season training, mostly running so I still need to get a bit of match sharpness but it should not take too long to get me fully up to speed.
“I played with Mark Reynolds and Andy Considine when I was here last time. It is good to have a couple of familiar faces in the dressing room when I start tomorrow.
“Of course winning trophies is something I want to do here. That should always be the aim. Celtic do have a very good team at the moment and it will be difficult but it is possible.
“Since I left five years ago it has been a journey! I have learned a lot and have gained a lot of experience both at International and club level. So hopefully I can bring something to the table.
“At Rotherham I would play half in midfield and half at centre back. Now I am mostly a central defender. After making the move to Sweden they did not need midfielders, they brought me in solely as a centre back and that is where I played and where I have played most of my football since then. “Every game in Euro 2016 was the biggest game in our little nations football history. It was unbelievable and beating England was just the icing on the cake. We actually believed we could go on to win the tournament but France were a little bit too strong.
“We are currently top of our group with Croatia for the World Cup qualifying. The teams are only separated by goal difference and we are still alive. I think we probably need three wins to qualify. We don’t want to go into a play-off. It is always hard as there will be some good team in there. We have lost that way in the past so we are hopeful of first spot.”
