“It was good to get out there.
“We always knew it was going to be a tough game. It was always going to be a good old fashioned cup tie and they brought up a good number of fans which helped the atmosphere.
“It was a great 1-0 win and we will take a lot of satisfaction from that. Especially as we had a lot of defending to do late on. But I felt we were relatively comfortable and we deserved the win.
“Joe did not have much to do when you look back at the game. He did come for some good crosses when we needed him. The boys defended very well together in that second half. We knew it was going to be a grind. We wanted to get another goal which would have made things a lot easier for us but one goal was enough in the end.
“Everyone in the dressing room was very happy.
“Myself and Rooney linked up well a couple of times during the first half. We also got Peter involved as well. But it was a tough game and the ball was not on the floor. We battled well and to a man I thought we were brilliant.
“I took a few sore ones to my shoulder but I will be fine.
“I am friends with Marvin Bartley at Hibs so it will be nice to see him. It will be a very tough game. The four teams in the semi-final meant that whoever was drawn against each other, the games would be a good advert for Scottish football. Both semi’s will be very well supported. We know we are going to have to be at our best to reach the final.
“That game is a while away though. It is now time to knuckle down and try and cement that second spot in the league. We want to get another run going and get our consistency back. We had a little slip up at Hamilton but we have proved this season in the league that we always bounce back quickly. We have put some brilliant runs together and that is what we want to do now.”
