“It was the best way possible to mark my first start for Aberdeen.
“A goal, a win, three points and a win for the travelling fans who came down in great numbers. I was really impressed by the size of the away support. A really good day for the club.
“Although we went a goal behind, with the attacking threat we have, the boys always believed we would get back into the game. I was happy to play my part in that.
“We scored three goals today and looked a constant threat. Even although we went 1-0 down today we were always in control of the game. I don’t know what it looked like from the side but on the pitch it felt like we had a lot of possession.
“The Aberdeen squad is very strong. There are a lot of talented boys. I did not know too much about Scottish Football and people have their opinions of what the standard is like but I was blown away in training with the technical ability of some of the players. Jonny Hayes, Kenny McLean, Wes Burns; we have some really good talented footballers here.
“I think that showed in the end today. I think we deserved the three points in the end.
“I have played 40 odd games for Coventry in League One and the pace of the game is not too dissimilar. I also have played a couple of games for Norwich this season. There were a few challenges on me today but I am used to that. There were a lot of heavy challenges in League One in England. It is part and parcel of football. I am used to it from a young age. The way I like to keep the ball, tight to myself, I am going to come in for some treatment as players are going to want to take the ball off me. It is just part of the game. I don’t mind it. I just get up and get on with it.
“We worked really hard in training this week on the shape of the team. I really enjoy my role within the side. It is not a free role as I still had responsibilities for when Dundee had the ball. But I have a licence to go out and show people what I can do.
“The manager just gave me some freedom to go out and play. He just wants me to go out and express myself.
“It is a massive week for the football club. We all knew we had three really big games. After the disappointment of the draw last week we knew how big the game today was to get us some momentum going into the week. We knew it would be tough coming here.
“The League Cup Quarter final is a massive game for us and then we have Rangers on Sunday. So it was important to start off on a positive note and we have done that today.
“This is the result we have been waiting for and hopefully now we can use it as a springboard.
“We play football for success and silverware so that is why Thursday is so big. I am really looking forward to the game and hopefully there will be a big crowd to get behind us. The supporters were great today.
“We will get back into training on Monday and then start preparing for the week ahead.”
