Northsound/RedTV’s Dave Galloway sat down and spoke to Craig Brown at length about the international week ahead.

“It is unfortunate there are no Aberdeen players in the Scotland squad but I am quite sure in the next few years there will Aberdeen players in the national side. There are two of the boys away playing for the Scotland U21 team – Ryan Jack and Clark Robertson – I can report that Clark is fit to play so that is good news. Also Joe Shaughnessy is away playing for the Ireland U21 side so we have a good representation of young players going away on international duty.

“I looked at the Aberdeen team that we had listed on Saturday. We had seven under 21 players on our team sheet at Celtic Park. If Clark Robertson had been fit that number would have been eight out of the eighteen. The Scotland U21 side has two of our boys and I sure there will be more of our players in the squad very very soon. The squad also has two of our ex players – Ryan Fraser and Fraser Fyvie who might still have been here if the financial situation had been different.

“Everything in terms of the youth players coming through is very positive at Aberdeen Football Club and some of these players will play international football in the future.

“It is good news that Clark is going to play for Billy Stark’s side but unfortunately Isaac Osbourne’s injury has not cleared up yet. Gary Naysmith missed the Celtic game and he was a big miss as his experience would have made a difference in the closing stages. Hopefully Gary will be available for selection against his former team next weekend. Andrew Considine and Chris Clark will not be back before the end of the season.

“I am pleased that Josh has been called up to the Northern Ireland squad alongside Niall McGinn. Michael O’Neill phoned me and we had a chat about Josh.”
