“Obviously it was a good result on Friday night. It was a nice little occasion for Andy as well scoring a hat-trick. The last couple of weeks the team have been playing well and over the last couple of months now we have picking up some good results. We are looking forward to the game tomorrow.

“Inverness this season have been a bit unfortunate with a couple of injuries to key players. I know they enjoy coming to Pittodrie. I enjoyed coming here when I was at Inverness. It is not as far away as most of the other away games. It is a big game because there is a bit of rivalry between the supporters.

“Richie has them well organised. I think they are in a little bit of a false position and I think they will climb the table, as long as it is after Tuesday!

“Richie is a good friend of mine and I still have a couple of good friends up there so I want to see them doing well. It is a place I am very fond of. I think they will survive this season.

“I think the thing about Inverness is that they have always have a good team spirit up there. It has not mattered which players have come and gone. Everyone gets on well with each other. That shows on the pitch. Every game we have played against them has been tough. Even when we went 4-0 up at half time a few years ago, they came back and we were lucky to scrape a win in the end. We have never had an easy game, not that you get many easy games in this league, but we will expect a tough Inverness side to show up tomorrow night.

“It is nice we are doing well and it enhances confidence in the camp.

“There is no danger that the boys will have one eye on the game on Sunday. It would be hard to do anyway because you need to concentrate so much on one game. The manager has it drilled into us whether it be set pieces, how Inverness are going to play, how we are going to play; you don’t really have time to take in anything else. We let the manager do his work and we focus fully on what he says.

“It was a rare occasion, a defender getting a hat-trick but Andy is a danger from set pieces. We are delighted for him. We spoke on the bench about him getting a hat-trick and was delighted to see him getting it. Take away the goals, it was still up there as one of the best individual performances I have seen all season from any player. He was outstanding and I think he set the tone for the team performance.

“I have said from day one when I got here how good Andy was. He does not get the recognition he deserves. For me he has been our most steady and consistent player over the last couple of years. I think people are starting to realise that now. When our player of the of year awards are announced, he will certainly be up there.”
