Building on the success of the Aberdeen City leg of the Scottish Cup Trophy Tour, the historic trophy is now heading to Shetland and Orkney for the Highlands & Islands leg.
Over 500 organisations registered their interest in hosting the Scottish Cup, and to date, more than 20,000 people have had the chance to get a photo with the trophy.
The Highlands & Islands Trophy Tour, presented by NorthLink Ferries, will visit Shetland on Wednesday 8th October, before moving on to Orkney on Thursday 9th October.
Shetland: On Wednesday 8th October, the Scottish Cup will be hosted at the Clickimin Leisure Complex in Lerwick from 10am to 4pm. All supporters are welcome to attend and enjoy this unique opportunity to see the trophy up close.
Orkney: On Thursday 9th October, the trophy will visit several local schools, culminating in an evening session with the Orkney Dons Supporters Club.
The visit to Orkney had been planned for several months and will see Aberdeen FC Community Trust connect with schools and grassroots clubs, aiming to build a long-term relationship with the strong Dons-supporting community in the area. Following the Scottish Cup success, it was the perfect opportunity to include Shetland, where support for the Dons is equally passionate.
Details of public events and open-access opportunities will be shared in advance via Aberdeen FC and AFCCT channels.
Once the Highlands & Islands leg is complete, the trophy will continue its journey to Aberdeenshire and beyond, as well as other venues in Aberdeen not included in the first phase of the tour.
