A disappointed but proud Hannah Stewart reflected on a frustrating defeat at Hearts that saw the Dons go in level at half-time with the better of the chances, before eventually losing out 3-0 to the Edinburgh side.

“It was a real team performance. We come away with a three-nil loss, but I couldn’t be prouder of the girls. We battled. They are a top side, they popped the ball about, their squad depth is ridiculous, they take two players on at half-time and they change the game.”

“Everyone stuck to their jobs, everyone put in a performance. We dug deep, at times we defended for our life’s. We had chances, so there are real positives.”

“It could have been a different game if we score with that early chance. We had the first chance, 9/10 Emily puts it away, but today it doesn’t fall for her. We had chances later, if we get it back to 2-1 it is again a different game. There are positives.”

“Everyone stuck to their task. We knew they would have most of the possession, that they would have the ball a lot, we knew they would target our wide areas, and I think we limited them to balls over the top. They had few chances that first half, and if we take some of ours it is a different game.”

“Our season isn’t going to be defined by these kinds of games. If they aren’t up at the very top, they will be comfortably in the top six, we just need to take these performances into the games against teams around us, and that starts next week at Spartans, we go again, and we need a similar level of performance.”
