“There is no better time to score in a game.
“It was one of those games where both teams were lacking that bit of real quality. I think we had good spells in the game. We passed it quite well and I felt quite comfortable but big Joe had a great save from the free kick which keeps us in it. Joe also won us the game with that save. From where I was standing it looked like it was going in. He is a top keeper and we saw that again tonight. We have him to thank.
“When that happens there is always a chance that you will go on and win the game and credit to the boys for sticking at it. Credit to them for going right to the end and getting the goal. The boys really had to dig in.
“I am pleased for Adam scoring his goal. Hopefully he will kick on now as well. And I am pleased for the club.
“I went down the line and I thought the defender had blocked the option of a cross with my left foot so I came back out and with my right I had swing at it. When Rooney is on the pitch you know that he is going to be in the box somewhere. It is just a case of getting the ball into an area where you know he might be. Luckily I found him.
“It is a great header and a great goal. It was such a good feeling when the ball hit the net.
“When a game like that gets to that stage you are thinking about extra time. It is important though you go right until the end.
“It was also pleasing to get a clean sheet. We know that if we do that we have the attacking players to go and get goals.
“We have a great squad here now and we know that. Jayden came on for Adam on Sunday and scored and the opposite has happened this evening. The manager is utilising the squad well. Sometimes you need that spark from the bench to change a game.
“This was a massive game for us. For the players, for the staff for the supporters. We now have a semi-final to look forward to. Now we have done the job we will try and get some recovery and focus on Sunday.
“We are at home and it is a game all the boys are looking forward to. As a player you love games coming think and fast.
“There is a lot of hype around the game but when you are a footballer out on the pitch you blank it out and get on with your job.
