Gavin Molloy made it clear after Aberdeen’s 4-0 win at Motherwell that it was a performance that had been coming.
“We're all believing in what we're practising on the training pitch, day in and day out. I think we showed the depth of our squad tonight. Even Saturday, some lads playing 120 minutes people playing even 10 minutes, they were coming on and doing a real job. It shows the competitiveness here and that's what we need.
“We've swapped and switched between formations but it's how we perform within that. It doesn't really matter once we apply ourselves. I think we can get results against anyone, and in this league anyone can beat anyone, considering the results tonight.
“It's a real momentum boost for us. We're looking to really build on this week because it's an important week for us and I think it's been a real kick-start for our season.
“We know how good Motherwell are. They pass the ball really well, their movement's really good. It's been like that for the last two seasons so it's a really, really important win for us here tonight. It showed the character for us to come here and put in a real performance and a statement win.
“I'm really, really happy with how we played after how hard we fought on Saturday against Killie. We all built on that and on top of that, it was a proud moment for me to get my first goal for the club. It’s probably the first I’ve scored for about three years.
“I was buzzing for Ayoub. To get his goal He's a bit crazy at times but I think we need that. We need characters in the squad and I'm really happy for him tonight. You can't tell him anything, he'll do what he likes. He's just a funny character. He's unpredictable but he'll absolutely work really hard and he'll let you know he's there in training. He's got a lot of quality. He's strong, he's powerful. He's a good player.
“The international break might come at the wrong time for us, but who knows? We have to win on Saturday first. We're obviously aware of how our away form's not been good enough for the stature of this club but we need to really kick on from this because we've showed tonight that we can do it.”
