Aberdeen Women vice-captain Fran Ogilvie took the time to look ahead to Sunday’s trip to Petershill Park to take on Partick Thistle.
“It’s a game where we can have a lot more of the ball. We can create a lot more chances. And it’s one that we’re looking to get three points from.
“We played the same formation our last two games, one in the league, one in the cup. In the 1st game, yeah, it’s a 5 nil score line so for an outsider, it looks like we’ve been thrashed. But if you’ve actually watched the game or been in the game, it was a very close game.
“We created a lot of chances going forward. And then the second game, I think we really lacked that belief in wanting to go forward.
“2-0 looks better, but actually we didn’t create nearly as many chances as we did in the first game.
“I think looking at that second game, our discipline in defence was a lot better. We were very, very together in that sense.
“Anna done really well, and she earns a place in the Team of the Week as a result. She’s only played two games in the cup and she’s done really well for us. She trains really well, so does Katie. It’s really good competition for them both to have.
“I don’t know why (such a positive goalscoring record at Partick Thistle). It’s a fixture that I quite enjoyed last season. A good couple of goals. I don’t know what it is, I’ve never played that well at home against them!
“I think there’s that little bit of rivalry with Jen Currie in goal as well, a former teammate, there is a bit of extra satisfaction.
“We know we need the three points, they will be thinking the same. Both of us, if you look at the table, in recent games, we are in very similar situations.
“If you look at the scores this season compared to last season, we’ve both definitely narrowed that goal difference gap.
“But both of us are still not getting those points. If we’re only getting beat 2/3 nil by the top teams, it’s as well being ten when you’re not getting the points.
“Of course their change of manager throws a bit of a spanner in the works. Analysis is such a big thing in football. Every team does it.
“We can do as much analysis as we want, but really, we’re best just focusing on ourselves.
“We don’t know what they will do, how much they will change.
“All we can do is focus on ourselves.”
