Commercial Director Robbie Hedderman will leave his position early next year to take up the Chief Executive Officer role with SSE Airtricity Premier Division champions Shamrock Rovers.
A native of Dublin, Robbie will return home following eleven years of service to the club across two separate spells, which included two years as a professional player in the early 2000s.
Robbie also previously held a senior position with Aberdeen FC’s charity partner, AFC Community Trust, as Partnership and Business Development Manager, before rejoining the club in February 2021 as Business Development Manager.
He was appointed Commercial Director in the summer of 2023 and, during his tenure, has overseen significant commercial growth across all revenue streams within his remit.
Chief Executive Alan Burrows said:
“While we are extremely disappointed to be losing Robbie, we fully understand that this is an excellent opportunity for him to return to his home city.
“Robbie has delivered exceptional results throughout his time as Commercial Director, achieving record breaking performance across partnerships, advertising and sponsorship, hospitality, and club events, including signing the biggest ever front-of-shirt deal in AFC history.
“In addition to his professional impact, he has been a very popular member of our team, and my disappointment in losing him is only matched by pride in his journey and excitement for him in his new role.”
Departing Commercial Director Robbie Hedderman added: “Aberdeen has been a huge part of my life, both personally and professionally, and it’s a club that will always mean a great deal to me and my family.
“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work alongside fantastic colleagues, partners, and supporters who care deeply about the club’s success on and off the pitch. I want to sincerely thank Alan Burrows and the Board for their trust, guidance, and support throughout my time here. I’m excited about the new challenge ahead and I leave with immense pride in what we’ve achieved together.”
Robbie will officially leave the club in January 2026, and the club will commence a process to identify and appoint his replacement.
Everyone at Aberdeen Football Club thanks him for his substantial contribution across both spells and wishes him every success in his new role.
